Riverside Portrait Location Guide
Riverside has a lot of variety when it comes to photo locations, which makes it easy to find something that fits your style. From the lakes and bridges at Fairmount Park, to the citrus groves at California Citrus State Historic Park, the open trails of Sycamore Canyon, and the architecture around downtown and the Mission Inn—each spot has its own feel. Whether you’re looking for something natural, structured, or a little more urban, there’s no shortage of great options here.
Fairmount Park
2601 Fairmount Blvd, Riverside, CA 92501
Fairmount Park is one of my go-to spots for photos in Riverside. It has a great mix of lakes, palm trees, bridges, and open space, so it’s easy to get a lot of variety without moving far. The light here gets really nice in the evening, especially around the water, which makes it perfect for relaxed, natural portraits.
California Citrus State Historic Park
9400 Dufferin Ave, Riverside, CA 92504
California Citrus State Historic Park is one of my favorite spots when I want that clean, natural look. The rows of citrus trees give everything a really nice structure, and the light filters through in a way that just works for photos. You also get great views of the mountains in the background, especially closer to sunset, which adds a little more depth without feeling busy.
Sycamore Highland Park & Sycamore Canyon Wilderness Park
5777 Fair Isle Dr, Riverside, CA 92507
Sycamore Highlands Park and Sycamore Canyon Wilderness Park are great if you’re looking for something a little more natural and open. You get rolling hills, dirt trails, and a lot of texture with the trees and brush, which gives photos a more outdoorsy feel. The views open up nicely, especially toward sunset, and it’s a solid spot if you want something a bit more rugged without going too far out of town.
Downtown Riverside and Mission Inn
3649 Mission Inn Avenue, Riverside, CA 92501
Downtown Riverside and the Mission Inn Hotel & Spa are perfect if you want a more architectural, city feel. The Mission Inn has a ton of character with its arches, textured walls, and little pockets of light, while the surrounding downtown area adds variety with brick, storefronts, and clean lines. It’s an easy place to get a mix of polished and candid shots without having to go far.
University of California Riverside
900 University Ave, Riverside, CA 92521
University of California, Riverside is a great spot for photos, especially for graduation sessions. The campus has a clean, classic look with palm-lined walkways, modern buildings, and iconic spots like the bell tower. There’s also plenty of greenery and shaded areas that work really well for portraits, so it’s easy to get a mix of polished and more relaxed shots all in one place.
